Gamification
Understanding behaviour. Shaping motivation. Increasing engagement.
When motivation is not a coincidence but design.
Gamification is more than points and badges. Used correctly, it makes complex topics tangible, activates intrinsic motivation and creates experiences that stay in mind.
We develop gamification concepts that do not manipulate but empower. Concepts that users take seriously and that measurably contribute to understanding knowledge, accepting processes and using products more intensively.
With user research, we create an understanding of the pains and needs of your target groups and develop the right gamification solutions with the help of creative methods.
Let’s find out together how gamification can be used sensibly for your project.
Our UX consultant familiarized herself with our complex market incredibly quickly and really empathized with the project. So she was able to show us problems that we have not seen before. The change of perspective brought many new ideas for solutions that we would not have thought of ourselves.

Benefits
When does gamification make sense?
Gamification is a powerful tool when it is used in a targeted and value-adding way. It is not the “game” that matters. The goal is what matters.
Increasing engagement and usage
Making complex content easier to understand
Activating innovation processes
Accompanying learning or transformation processes
Together with you, we will check whether gamification is the right method or whether a different approach would make more sense. Because we don’t provide trend solutions, but well-founded recommendations.
Case Study: Diary Study for GLAMOUR
Improve long-term engagement with gamification
In this diary study, the goal was clear:
Participants should remain active in Glamour’s loyalty program for a longer period of time.
In the study, we identified the problems that users had with the program, but also the aspects that were already working well. For example, we were able to add gamification elements that ensure that users stay on the ball as permanently as possible.
Our approach: strategic and human-centered
Gamification only works if it is based on real needs. That’s why we combine game mechanics with user research, psychology and UX design.
Clarification of objectives and context
What exactly is to be achieved? Which behaviors are to be strengthened? Which KPIs are relevant?
Building user understanding
What are the motivations, barriers and expectations of your target groups?
We work qualitatively, exploratively and data-based – and ask “why”.
Consciously choose mechanics
We develop mechanics that fit your target group, e.g. progression, storytelling, social dynamics, feedback systems.
Prototyping & Testing
We test at an early stage whether the concept is understandable, motivating and accepted by users.
Evaluation & Further Development
Gamification is not a one-time project. We accompany you in optimization, iteration and sustainable integration.
Case Study: Design Thinking at E.ON
Gamification as a usability factor
For and with E.ON, we have carried out a design thinking project to make the process of reading electricity easier and more convenient.
The result:
The prototype of an app that offers users real added value and combines current reading with gamification.
For whom is gamification particularly relevant?
Those who are responsible for innovation, product development or transformation are often faced with the question: How do we create real commitment? Gamification starts where motivation, change and commitment are to be designed in a targeted manner.
