“Remote usability testing was a new field for us”
How HanseMerkur was able to quickly establish remote usability tests within the company
Are you still new to remote usability testing and want to learn how to design and evaluate tests? Do you also find it difficult to determine where to incorporate usability tests into your development roadmap and what types of tests make sense at different stages?
The same was true for HanseMerkur’s market research team. Remote testing was still a new approach for them, despite their existing knowledge of usability and UX. That’s why they liked the idea of using RapidUsertests to get quick results and easily share them with colleagues and stakeholders.
To make it easier for them to get started with RapidUsertests, together we created a testing roadmap in a workshop.

Defining goals
Together, we established target KPIs for optimization, which will guide the usability tests and allow us to measure the tests’ success.
Analysis of the development roadmap
In the first half of the workshop, we used HanseMerkur’s development roadmap to identify the points in the customer journey where RapidUsertests could be most effectively utilized—not only for traditional website testing, but also for landing page testing and prototype testing, among other things.

Based on our analysis of the development roadmap, we were then able to derive a test strategy and overarching test questions.
Test Design Coaching
In the second half of the workshop, we jointly created a concrete test concept based on HanseMerkur’s questions. They learned to adapt the scenario and the tasks to their objectives, and also were briefed on the right way to address the testers so they can
Product training
In a product training course, we also showed how they can make ideal use of our evaluation tool so that the evaluation can be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Investing in usability testing pays off right from the start
Instead of having to experiment a lot at the beginning and learn from their own mistakes, HanseMerkur was able to successfully launch its remote usability testing program immediately after the workshop.
Thanks to the knowledge we gained about test development and evaluation, the money invested was put to good use right from the start.
The workshop enabled HanseMerkur to carry out more than 10 RapidUsertests themselves in the following year and to firmly integrate remote usability testing into everyday optimization.
Input from usability experts provided them with a broad understanding of remote testing in the following areas:
