Userlution’s two UX designers quickly became familiar with the subject, and I’m thrilled with how clearly and simply they’ve organised all the therapy data.

COPRA System
Everything at a glance –
making a complex flood of Information Manageable
For Copra, we developed software for managing infusion pumps and patient data, which is used in
intensive care units.
Making complex information easily graspable
Time until the next infusion change, battery level, alerts, required protective gear, bed occupancy… To decide what to do next, hospital staff in intensive care units must be able to take in a wealth of information at a glance. The biggest challenge, therefore, was to present an incredibly large amount of complex information and status updates in a clear and logically organized hierarchy.
Empowering hospital staff to make the right decisions in a short time
Among other things, a prioritization system was designed to clarify how urgently intervention is needed and which infusion pump staff must attend to next.

Beverage orders on the fly

From information overload to user-friendly design
Requirements analysis
Precise definition of the information to be presented and use cases
Concept + design
We incorporated the requirements directly into the visual design based on Copra’s initial concepts.
Validation with the target audience
Copra consulted with the hospital staff on a regular basis and validated our designs.
Developer handoff
We closely monitored the handoff of the designs to the development team and carried out further iterations.
Results & benefits
Agile UX design for the medical industry
Our screen designs display all relevant information (e.g. medication using color codes) realistically and were tested with hospital staff – before the software went into development.

Accessibility played a particularly important role for Copra. We worked with animations so that staff with red-green weaknesses, for example, could recognize the warnings immediately.

We have designed our own icon set for Copra in order to optimally cover the versatile requirements of the software and make the information comprehensible.
